My favourite memory is related to spotting the smell of the brand new Christmas tree in the staircase, when coming back from school as a child. My father worked at home so would sneak out during the day and bring back the best tree, big - slightly bigger than our cluttered appartement could take - and freshly cut so it might last longer. The smell was that of holidays. It still is in many ways.

One of my favorite Christmas memories is the year I was 5 years old. I had such a vivid imagination. I dreamed I saw my mother kissing Santa and it was so real that I shared it with my Mom and Dad insisting that I did see Mommy kissing Santa. My father wondered what man in a Santa suit my mother was kissing. My mother took it all in her usual good stride but it did make my Dad a little nervous!

My favorite christmas story is really the movie It's a Wonderful Life. It is my all time favorite movie. It's all about self discovery, community, family, good verses evil and love conquering all. I'm a bit on the sappy side at the Holidays. I watch this movie every year several times. I'm sure I know the dialogue by heart. My favorite part is when Suzu says "Look daddy an angel got his wings. Teacher says Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings."

As far as an actual story my favorite would be The Night Before Chirstmas. It'a a classic that I used to read to my son when he was little. "Twas the night before christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...."

Thank you Jamie for helping me stay in a festive nostalgic holiday mood.
